LAFAYETTE -- The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame will stage the third stop on its “Glory Road Tour” Tuesday night at Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar in Lafayette, with one Hall of Fame member and other prominent area sports figures taking part in a “meet and greet” and a panel discussion.
The event has a social hour for pictures and autographs as well as a raffle and a silent auction from 6-7 p.m., followed by the panel discussion and a question-and-answer session from 7-8 p.m. at Walk-On’s, located at 2336 Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette.
The panelists include Carencro’s Kevin Faulk, the former LSU and New England Patriots running back and a 2015 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame inductee, along with UL baseball coach Tony Robichaux, LSU assistant athletic director Verge Ausberry, baseball All-Star Will Harris of the Houston Astros and former LSU basketball coach John Brady. Other panelists and Hall of Famers may also be part of the festivities.
Four-time Louisiana Broadcaster of the Year Lyn Rollins will host the panel discussion that will follow an informal meet-and-greet session, and will also conduct a live auction. Glory Road Tour stops are ahead in Baton Rouge (Feb. 16), Houma (March 2) and New Orleans (March 9), after earlier events in Lake Charles (Jan. 24) and Shreveport (Jan. 31).
Tickets for the event are $75 which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and an open bar. VIP tables for six with preferred seating are available for $500. Tickets will be available at the door, but participants are encouraged to RSVP in advance in order to secure the best seating.
Ronnie Rantz, president of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, said the event is a fund-raiser for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, which will hold its annual induction ceremonies June 22-24 in Natchitoches.
This year’s induction class includes 13-time PGA Tour winner David Toms, nine-time Pro Bowl football standout Ed Reed, three-time Kentucky Derby-winning jockey and Acadiana native Calvin Borel, World Series champion and long-time major leaguer Juan Pierre, former UL, Nicholls and LSU coach Raymond Didier, ex-LSU football and track standout Eddie Kennison, iconic LSU gymnastics coach D-D Breaux and Southeastern Louisiana basketball legend C.A. Core.
Also honored at this year’s Hall of Fame induction will be Sue Donohoe as the Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award winner, and Lafayette’s Dan McDonald and New Orleans broadcasting icon Jim Henderson as winners of the Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism.
